Alice / Mysti / Lilumina is a performance artist, musician, film maker visual artist, pupeteer, sex worker and writer based in New York City. Profoundly believing in the lived experience of personal theraputic, revolutionary transformation through the embrace of a simultaneous spiritual-artistic practice, her work is about learning how to value abused aspects of the feminine within the contemporary world dominated by rationality and patriarchal capitalism. This comes from very intense personal experiences of “spiritual emergency” labeled as “mental illness” that came as a result of extreme hyper gendered trauma throughout her lifetime and rather then being something purely detrimental that had her in the hands of yet another arm of industrial patriarchal capitalism (the psychiatric industrial complex) that denied and represses the legitimacy, importance and wisdom of the divine feminine in abject revolt, it has served as a pathway towards fuller embrace of her own subjective struggles and empowered embrace of herself as an activist, witch and artist.
For the past decade, she has been deeply committed to the contemporary US underground puppetry, DIY, performance art and music communities. As a person without institutional access, she profoundly believes in the importance of making art accessible, especially for those without a voice due to their experiences of marginalization- to be able to create freely in ways that are not mediated by the market place of art so that they instead can be a space of healing and empowerment without expectations and also circomvent the classism and fascist asctetic compulsions of the market place that vampirically repress creativity.
She is a founding member of the international militant art collective CELF (Catabasis Exaltation Liberation Front)
