Ma is a video unconforming to the rules of engagement between a subject and the camera; representative of the current social climate, specifically the unjust murder of George Floyd, on-going protests and social restrictions. Struck by George Floyd’s outcry for his mother before his untimely death, the work exhibits the relationship between the artist and his mother. The video also highlights the difficulty of overcoming the social borders of communicating with family, made distant by different life experiences.
