In my closet
Mariantonietta Bagliato
Curated by Like A Little Disaster

These days we are all hidden in our houses. In this particular moment, home could have a new definition and become a trap that takes us away from the view of others. Hiding is an ancient game.

Children hide to find their freedom, to build their identity, to exercise their imagination. It is an unconscious need to allow the discovery of the autonomy, to be beyond the mother and recognize personal thinking.
In this moment I'm hiding In the house where I have a beautiful closet. When closed it looks like a room door. In fact, before the advent of the virus, when friends came to visit me, everyone asked: "where do you go from that door?" and I always replied "But no, nowhere, it's a close t!"

Now inside of that closet I want to create a world of dreams and nightmares. I want to hide myself in it to escape from the house trap with my only weapon: the imagination. My focus is an intellectual crossroads: our solitude and our isolation, in thi s historical moment, are part of a project of enormous social cohesion. The process of psychic development of children who are hiding, could have an analogy with the psychic development given by our current condition: the understanding of existing beyond others, hiding to be found. The act of hiding has a close link between the hidden object and the external world, it is an action that born with a relationship between two or more entities. To hide inevitably involves the act of find and makes you feel the absence of someone or something.

The project is a game installation in the closet. Photographic documentation is expected. Each photoes will be shot in different time because the game practice inside the closet create variations and new connections bet
