Seven provocations for anti-enclosure
As the sea level rises, we recognize the following:
1. If there is no existence without co-existence, there is also no ground for continuity without discontinuity.
2. Community has never been “lost”, and therefore is not something to which we can return through nostalgia, attain through labor, or invoke by adhering to a unified doxa. We cannot re-enter an originary Utopia – nor should we attempt to; as every step toward an imagined purity ends in either totalitarianism or spectral subsumption.
3. We can, however, contemplate modes of communion and community which are rooted in a useless Eros.
4. This useless Eros is organized around neither lack nor identity, overturning the inferno of the same in which defferance is subsumed.
5. We affirm a temporality wherein the nature and lifespan of value is distributed across infinitely multiple waves of realization, overturning the exchange rate of progress and production.
6. The interruptions and continuities of crisis and Eros exist in a sensitive relationship with affirmation and alienation.
7. One possible plane of their expression is cultivated through the synthetic practises of enclosure.
